Frequently asked questions
How much does online nutritionist coaching cost?
Depending on your requirements, insurance coverage, and the online nutritionist you choose, the cost of nutrition counseling may be charged weekly, biweekly, or monthly. The cost of coaching will also depend on whether the insurance provider and type are accepted. For out of pocket costs, our packages start at $59 weekly, $89 biweekly or $119 monthly.
What is a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians (RDs) are highly trained healthcare professionals who specialize in translating scientific research into practical dietary advice. To become an RD, individuals must complete a rigorous educational and experiential pathway and pass a national examination.
Our expert nutritionists have been credentialed as an RD and are recognized by the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists and recognized by the Commison of Dietetic Registration. They work with you and healthcare professionals to improve a patient’s health by addressing their dietary needs and medical concerns through a nutrition plan.
What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a nutritionist
“Registered Dietitian” (RD) is a legally protected title. RDs must complete specific education, training, and licensure requirements, and be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), which ensures they follow strict standards of care.
“Nutritionist,” on the other hand, is not a regulated title in most places. Anyone can use it, regardless of training or credentials.
For safe, evidence-based care, we recommend choosing companies that employ Registered Dietitians.
What does the matching process help with?
During the matching process, we refer you to a nutrition specialist based on your specific health concerns and goals. Once paired, your specialist will help you transform those goals into a step-by-step plan intended to maximize your chances for success. Along the way, your specialist will set up regular check-ins to make sure you're on the right track and talk about any changes or concerns you might have about your nutrition counseling. As you grow and learn more about your needs, your dedicated dietitian will modify and adapt your program to match that progress.
What if me and my assigned dietitian are not a good fit?
If after being matched you are presented with a dietitian that is not a good fit we will happily re-assign you to a better fit provider if this is requested.
Does health insurance cover online nutritionist and dietitian coaching?
Depending on the service you choose and your insurance provider, your health insurance may partially or fully cover online nutrition counseling. Your health insurance provider will likely cover at least some of the nutrition coaching costs because it is considered preventive care.
When working through our online quiz, you will be asked to enter your insurance information. From there, we will submit your insurance and run a benefits verification check. We will inform you of coverage within 48 hours.
What can I expect from my dietitian?
Structured HIPAA-compliant video calls, customized nutrition plans and lifestyle, help, meal planning, and ongoing support and motivation based on your nutritional health goals and needs.
How does the process work?
Here is how our process works:
- Intake Quiz – Client completes a short quiz on our website to share your goals, insurance, and availability.
- Dietitian Match – We’ll pair you with a licensed dietitian based on your state, insurance, specialty needs, and schedule.
- Initial Consultation – Your first appointment is a 1-hour telehealth session through our secure, HIPAA-compliant EHR portal.
- Ongoing Care –
- Self-Pay Clients: You choose your subscription plan (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) and schedule directly.
- Insurance Clients: Session frequency is based on your insurance benefits. Your dietitian will explain your coverage and help you book follow-up visits.
How do sessions work if I pay out of pocket?
You’ll start with a 1-hour intake session, then continue with your chosen subscription: weekly (30 min), bi-weekly (45 min), or monthly (60 min). You can adjust your plan anytime.
How do sessions work with insurance?
You’ll also begin with a 1-hour intake. The number of follow-ups depends on your insurance benefits, which we’ll confirm before your first visit. Once coverage ends, you can switch to a self-pay subscription.
How does an out of pocket payment work towards my deductible?
Only services submitted through insurance can count towards a deductible. We can submit to your insurance, have it count towards your deductible, and bill you for your deductible amount if you’d like.
Who manages scheduling and records?
You’ll see all your upcoming appointments, intake forms, and visit notes in your secure EHR client account portal. Your dietitian manages your care, while we handle the matching, intake, and insurance process in the background.
