What to expect in your first session with this dietitian?
We start our initial session by getting to know each other. I will complete a thorough assessment by asking additional details about your nutrition and lifestyle to personalize care. Together, we will discover your motivation to improve your health, discuss your nutrition goals and work on creating strategies that will help you achieve them. By the end of our session, you will feel empowered and confident to pursue your health goals!

Approach to care

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over four years of counseling experience. I have a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well - yes, I'm a double Tar Heel! I became a dietitian after working in social and clinical research at a hospital. I saw the impact caused by poor nutrition or lack of nutrition knowledge - so much so that it makes treatment of other illnesses much more difficult - that I wanted to be a part of the solution. I now specialize in working with clients who have chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, clients who struggle with weight management, and clients looking to improve their overall wellbeing.

Hobbies

I like to try new recipes for baked goods or meal prep ideas, explore hiking trails, and read mystery novels.

More About This Dietitian

I believe that nourishing our bodies should always bring us joy! I personally feel that no food is “off limits,” and believe that all foods have a place in a balanced, nutritious diet. I practice nutrition through helping you make small, sustainable, realistic changes to your eating and movement patterns to help you achieve your goals. A small change can make a tremendous difference!

"This Dietitian helped me get my life back”

Gia M.

Emma has been fantastic to work with. My work life is nothing but stressful deadlines which played a role in my diet. She has taught me the importance of prepping ahead and to be mindful what I eat. I love the apps she recommended to help manage my schedule and track my eating habits without calorie counting.

Savannah, April 29, 2022

She has helped me adjust my view on food/exercise. I now view food as fuel and any purposeful movement as exercise.
