Approach to care
Physical Health is like a three-legged stool – with each of the three legs being sleep/stress management, activity and nutrition. When one of these is off, the stool is not balanced, and neither is overall physical health. this makes it challenging to have a healthy metabolism, lose weight, and strive to achieve fitness and other health goals. I have been a dietitian for 25 years and have extensive knowledge and experience in physical health. In my approach to care, I help clients set goals related to areas of their physical health, then provide education and guidance that will support lasting behavior change. I specialize in working with those clients seeking weight loss, improved metabolism, sports nutrition, healthy aging and overall disease prevention.
Hobbies
I am a country girl from Montana at heart. I grew up learning to grow and prepare our own food and my mother taught me to cook from scratch when I was 8 years old. I learned the value of a good day's work. I raised many animals and had to get up early each day before school to help out with chores on the farm. Since retiring from the military, I have come back to some of my roots. I attended culinary school where I found my passion again for cooking and sourcing quality ingredients. I now love to grow and cook my own food, I am in the process of mastering sourdough, and love to shop at Farmer's Markets and co-ops for fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From scratch cooking is one of the most joyful experiences to me. I also love to be active and was an athlete for many years. Now days, I still love to ride my bike, strength train regularly, do yoga, and love to take my French Bulldog, Enzo, for daily walks. I love to explore new places, new foods, and also spend time with my friends and family regularly. I enjoy reading and also learning. I love to have fun and try not to take life too seriously. I enjoy supporting my community through volunteer work. One day, I would love to have a place with some land where I can raise chickens and have a larger garden.
