Registered Dietitians (RDs) are highly trained healthcare professionals who specialize in translating scientific research into practical dietary advice. To become an RD, individuals must complete a rigorous educational and experiential pathway and pass a national examination.
Our expert nutritionists have been credentialed as an RD and are recognized by the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists and recognized by the Commison of Dietetic Registration. They work with you and healthcare professionals to improve a patient’s health by addressing their dietary needs and medical concerns through a nutrition plan.
“Registered Dietitian” (RD) is a legally protected title. RDs must complete specific education, training, and licensure requirements, and be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), which ensures they follow strict standards of care.
“Nutritionist,” on the other hand, is not a regulated title in most places. Anyone can use it, regardless of training or credentials.
For safe, evidence-based care, we recommend choosing companies that employ Registered Dietitians.
During the matching process, we refer you to a nutrition specialist based on your specific health concerns and goals. Once paired, your specialist will help you transform those goals into a step-by-step plan intended to maximize your chances for success. Along the way, your specialist will set up regular check-ins to make sure you're on the right track and talk about any changes or concerns you might have about your nutrition counseling. As you grow and learn more about your needs, your dedicated dietitian will modify and adapt your program to match that progress.
If after being matched you are presented with a dietitian that is not a good fit we will happily re-assign you to a better fit provider if this is requested.
Depending on the service you choose and your insurance provider, your health insurance may partially or fully cover online nutrition counseling. Your health insurance provider will likely cover at least some of the nutrition coaching costs because it is considered preventive care.
When working through our online quiz, you will be asked to enter your insurance information. From there, we will submit your insurance and run a benefits verification check. We will inform you of coverage within 48 hours.
Structured HIPAA-compliant video calls, customized nutrition plans and lifestyle, help, meal planning, and ongoing support and motivation based on your nutritional health goals and needs.
Here is how our process works:
You’ll start with a 1-hour intake session, then continue with your chosen subscription: weekly (30 min), bi-weekly (45 min), or monthly (60 min). You can adjust your plan anytime.
You’ll also begin with a 1-hour intake. The number of follow-ups depends on your insurance benefits, which we’ll confirm before your first visit. Once coverage ends, you can switch to a self-pay subscription.
Only services submitted through insurance can count towards a deductible. We can submit to your insurance, have it count towards your deductible, and bill you for your deductible amount if you’d like.
You’ll see all your upcoming appointments, intake forms, and visit notes in your secure EHR client account portal. Your dietitian manages your care, while we handle the matching, intake, and insurance process in the background.
At Top Nutrition Coaching, we believe in building strong partnerships. That's why we designed our service to prioritize matching clients to only the best online nutritionists.
In our free matching process, we'll ask you questions to understand your needs, health concerns, goals, personality, and preferred type of communication. Once we have this information, our matching specialists will reference your data against our list of respected, registered dietitians and find you the ideal partner.
Nothing in life is more important than your health. Top Nutrition Coaching is dedicated to helping you build a stronger, healthier you.

Our services are designed to make finding the right specialist as simple as possible.
Begin by completing a short matching quiz. During the assessment, we ask about your general goals, health history, level of activity, and the type of personality you work best with. Once completed, we use your answers to match you with the best online nutritionist. All nutritionists are from our network of trusted partners, and you'll have the final say in whether your matched professional is right for you.
If you decide that you'd like to be matched with another nutritionist, we'll work with you to refine your profile and focus our parameters until we find the perfect fit. Matching is complimentary, and you don’t pay anything until you're confident in your match.
After the quiz is completed, all that's left is to begin your conversation with your new partner. If more input is needed, our team will be there every step of the way to answer questions, offer advice, and facilitate communication between you and your nutrition professional.

An online nutritionist and dietitian is a healthcare professional who seeks to improve the health and lives of their clients through meal planning, supplements, and changing their relationship with food. Most of the time, these professionals will specialize in one or more areas, such as fitness nutrition, children's nutrition, or weight management.
Once matched to your respective specialist, they will confirm how you would like to communicate. Communication will be through a platform, emails, or scheduled video calls. During these meetings, you will discuss your health concerns and potential barriers to success. Your nutritionist will then provide resources such as a meal plan, a list of recommended supplements, and teach you techniques to alter your relationship with food.
When looking for online nutrition counseling, it's best to focus on professionals who have the degrees, certifications, and experience you need. If you don't know what kind of specialist would be best for your situation, you can use a service to help you find the right one.
Online nutritionists and dietitians are healthcare professionals dedicated to helping people improve their lives through nutrition-related services and education. Although these services can be used to treat or manage conditions like heart disease or eating disorders, they are usually thought of as preventive care and covered fully/partially by an insurance provider.
Depending on the terms and duration of the online nutrition counseling service you choose, your assigned dietitian might provide you with a one-time set of personalized resources or schedule weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings. During these meetings, the two of you will review your goals, potential paths to success, and any hurdles you've encountered along the way.
While even a single meeting with a nutritionist can often be the push you need to experience results, many clients find the greatest success comes from regular check-ins and a program that evolves alongside them.
